Is religious trauma a diagnosis?
Religious trauma is not a formal diagnosis, but its effects can look like anxiety, depression, PTSD or complex PTSD. In therapy, we work with those effects directly.
How I work with religious trauma
I am trained in EMDR for spiritual trauma and religious abuse. Alongside EMDR, I use IFS-informed parts work and somatic approaches to help the fearful or ashamed parts of you feel safe. You don’t need to give up your faith, and you don’t need to have one.
This practice offers a safe space for LGBTQA+ folks and BIPOC.
