Online Therapy in Oregon with Elisa Edgreen, MA, LPC, NCC
I'm Elisa Saboundjian Edgreen, MA, LPC, NCC, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and the therapist behind Mana Counseling. Every session is online, by secure video, for adults who are physically in Oregon at the time of each session. There is no office to drive to. You join from your own space, anywhere in Oregon, in English or French, and we move at a pace that feels safe.
Online therapy, in practice.
This page is the practical one: how a video session works, the Oregon location rule, my Oregon license, time zones, and how to get started. For the trauma work itself, start with PTSD and complex PTSD therapy in Oregon.
How do online sessions with me work?
A session is 55 minutes, by secure video, on a laptop, tablet or phone. The National Institute of Mental Health describes psychotherapy as treatments that aim to help a person identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts and behaviors. Online therapy is that same work, by video.
You need three things: a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private place where you will not be overheard or interrupted, such as a bedroom with the door shut, a home office or a parked car. Headphones help.
On my side, all sessions are online through secure telehealth, and what you share in session is confidential, within the legal limits that apply to every licensed counselor. I offer EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy and Brainspotting by secure video, so the trauma work itself does not change on a screen.
Why do I need to be in Oregon during the session?
Because my license is an Oregon license. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor through the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, license number C11178, and you can confirm that any time on the board’s public license search. I am also a National Certified Counselor, issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
An Oregon license covers therapy with people who are in Oregon, so the rule is simple: you need to be physically located in Oregon at the time of each session. It is about where you are during the hour, not your permanent address. Home in Eugene, a parked car in Hillsboro or a rented cabin on the coast all count. If you are outside Oregon on the day of a session, that session waits until you are back.
The American Counseling Association code of ethics notes that counselors who work by video may be subject to the laws of both the place where the counselor practices and the place where the person is located, so being clear about where you are matters.
What time zone are sessions scheduled in?
Oregon time, always. I’m based in Hawaii, and Hawaii does not observe daylight saving time, so the gap between my clock and yours changes twice a year. Every session is scheduled in Oregon’s Pacific time, and that is the time on your confirmation. If you are ever unsure, just ask.
What I work with online
I help adults gently process trauma and reconnect with safety, self-trust and a stronger sense of self. My specialties are complex PTSD and childhood trauma, narcissistic abuse, religious trauma and spiritual abuse, betrayal trauma and limerence. Much of that harm comes from being controlled, used or treated as an object by someone who was supposed to care. I also work with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and nervous system dysregulation that often come with trauma. The National Institute of Mental Health lists psychotherapy among the main treatments for PTSD.
The methods are EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Brainspotting, IFS-informed parts work, and somatic and creative approaches, all by video. I am an EMDR practitioner (EMDRIA) and a Brainspotting practitioner, trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Adults, including older adults, are welcome here. The trauma modalities page explains how online EMDR works, and my about page lists the rest of my training.
Why does online therapy fit life across Oregon?
Oregon is a big state, and a weekly drive to a therapist’s office is not realistic for many people. If you live on the coast, in Bend, Eugene or Medford, in the Portland suburbs, or in a rural county where the nearest town is an hour away, online therapy means the session comes to you. No commute, no I-5 traffic, no waiting room.
For trauma work in particular, your own space matters. When a session brings up something heavy, you are already home when it ends, with no drive back while your mind is still in it.
If you wonder whether video holds up next to sitting in the same room, a 2021 meta-analysis found video sessions produced treatment effects largely equivalent to in-person care across 57 studies and 4,336 people (Batastini et al., Clinical Psychology Review, 2021). Over the past few years, I have also volunteered with a nonprofit clinic in Portland, providing telehealth therapy to underserved communities.
How do I get started?
Start with an email through the contact page. Include your first and last name, your phone number, a short description of what brings you to therapy, and whether you would like to use in-network insurance, out-of-network benefits or private pay. Email is not a secure form of communication, so please keep your first message brief and leave out detailed health information. We can talk about the rest when we speak.
I am accepting new people for online therapy in Oregon.
I am in-network with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and Aetna for online therapy in Oregon. Private pay sessions are $160 for 55 minutes, and I provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement. If I’m not in-network with your plan, you may be able to use your out-of-network benefits through Thrizer. The insurance and fees page has the details.
Online therapy is for ongoing work, not for emergencies. If you are in crisis right now, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, free and confidential, around the clock. I look forward to connecting with you.
